Is there a market for pewter (85-90% tin)? After reading this post, I'm wondering if I'm missing out on some pewter yard sale finds. I passed on about 6 pounds this past weekend at about $0.25 per pound. You must be logged in to see this link.

I always considered tin to mean tin cans which I always throw in with my prepared steel. I've never bought any pewter items.

The biggest issue with pewter is finding enough of it to make it worth dealing with.

Most pewter items are worth little more than scrap, and at typical yard sale prices it's hard to find it priced below scrap.

However like most other metals there are a handful of antique and more modern collectible pieces that are worth big bucks.

A lot of the smaller metal yards don't deal in pewter or pay low prices for it because it takes so long to get a large quantity of it together.
