I've got about 30 gallons of water at the moment but I'm about to hit the limit of my storage space for my preps in the apartment I'm in. But people who say they "don't have room" for water better reconsider how long they could go without a spare water supply. Maybe it's time to consolidate boxes of stuff they never use anyway and free up closet space for a water supply--a minimum of 7 gallons per person in the house (one gallon per person per day for a week). If there's an extended water emergency, even that small supply could become quickly depleted. And being thirsty, really thirsty, can be dangerous:

I didn't include it in my total, but don't forget about the 40 gallons or so of water sitting in the water heater you can drain out in an emergency.

Does anyone here use a reverse osmosis setup? Are they a worthwhile investment?

Good thinking.

One day a few years ago our town's water company shut down because ice was blocking the intake pipe out into Lake Erie. You don't realize how you depend on water until you don't have any.

I just made this thread a sticky because I think it's really important.

Here's another thread on water storage:

I have all of the water that I can use, because there is a natural spring on my property.

Plenty of water. Also have about twenty 2 gallon containers of Langer's Grape/Black Cherry juice and the same amount Apple juice, and probably 12 cases Rockstar, 3 cases Monster, 1 case Red Bull. Thanks, Costco!

Hoard now and hold on!

Always diversify with energy drinks...

As far as I know, it is stated "In God We Trust" on the US dollar. How can I trust this currency if I do not believe in God?

Possession is nine-tenths of the law.

When I give my two cents, they're always copper!

Does a well count?
Well + generator = unlimited.

Thats what I have. I've rigged up my electrical system so if power goes out all I have to do is fire up my 5550 watt generator and plug it in to a panel box. From this panel box I have several outlets throughout the house. Two are right next to my refridgerators, so I can unplug from the power system straight to my generator. Same goes for my well, from the panel box to the pressure switch there is an outlet and a plug in between them. Simply unplug and plug into generator outlet. I'm in the country, so when power goes out it sometimes takes days to have it restored. But the worst part is, its been very dry here and my well is getting lower and lower.

Lessee... I have a well (can go manual if necessary). A good creek 150 feet from the house, a lake a quarter mile away, a major river 2 miles away. Both types of Berkey filters (and spares). The ability to create pre-filters and solar stills. Oh, and several springs in the hills behind the house.

Loads of stuff to flavor the water, kool-aid, coffee, tea, etc. Loads of fruit to ferment.

Won't be going thirsty anytime soon.
