Today I stopped at a dealer and he offered me 10oz APMEX bars for $120. I came home and checked and silver bars seem to be $20 an oz minimum. I got my money and got there minutes after he closed.

Should I go back as soon as he opens monday and buy all I can for a quick turnaround or is this price more of a hold and see right now?

If they're in nice shape, you could probably turn around and sell them on eBay for $170 - $185.

Kurr yes... you should get it! I'd pay $130 for it! :-)

That's a good price, and not much above spot. Go do it. My usual dealer is now all out of junk and bullion. Looks like I won't see a good price on silver for a while (until my source can restock).

My dealer told me he would have to charge $2.50 per ounce over spot for any ordered bar. (A couple of days wait.) But if someone came in and sold to him he would work on a fifty cent per ounce buy/sell spread or in other words a dollar per ounce profit. It appears to me your dealer is selling a bar that someone recently sold him. So I would say that if you are buying silver that is a dam good price right now. BTW, who is he and is he close to Erie?

Yes, you should go back and buy enough for everybody here, and then buy just as much for yourself to wait and see.

Why can't I get deals like this?

Question: Why did you go to the coin dealer the first time without your money? Were you window shopping, or did you just want to remove temptation?

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Same story for me today. The wife and I were coming home from the zoo when I stopped in to talk to my dealer. I had maybe $50 in my wallet. Metal dealers just attract us like flies to sh!t.

LOL, I was coming from my first penny run in a bit. picked up $250 in sealed boxes, $50 were mixed, looks like the other $200 is uncirced, one sealed box marked "Eept 26 2008 Alice", I figured since I put that first item up on the bay, I might try a box of new zincs to see how they go.

I didn't know how many I had new at the time and I am new to the PM market and running tight. I blinked. Hesitated. The fear got me. Now I know better and have one more experience where I know what the right thing was, and what I did wrong. Not checking the markets, physical and "spot" before I left home was the worst. This is a interesting time to be trying to teach yourself or learn about these things.

Update on these bars, I was in the shop Sat. at about 12-12:30. got back at 2:00 closing time door was locked. I went back this morning and me and another gentleman had a lively discussion waiton for the shop to open. And the bars? SOLD OUT. Sold out on 90% too. Must of had 15-20 10 oz bars, one guy bought em all in one pop.

I called around today in about a 50-100 mile radius and no one has any bullion at all, all sold out. Actively EAGERLY wanting to buy. One said he had 90% @ 12.5.
