I started to think that maybe there are just some parts that need to be cleaned after my first 250K coins--which is probably the case anyway--but I've started to notice that occasional zincs between about 2000 and 2006 sometimes get spit into my copper pile. Anyone else had this happen?

You should be more specific in your question.
How did you setup the discriminator? What coin was the reference coin? |

I've noticed this as well, but thankfully they normally stand out like a sore thumb. I am using a 1978 reference coin and have the factory default setup (is there any other way?).
This is definitely not a huge issue though, I think I've found maybe 10-15 zincs in the copper pile out of the last 20-25 boxes I've sorted. |

The reference coin is a 1979 penny that came with the machine. |

| There is a adjustment screw - and a photo of it in a recent thread. However, the machine may occasionally not quite get that zinc rejected (reject or right side coins get a little kick). Or maybe it is bouncing between boxes. Or it might have been dropped on the wrong side while you clear a jam. |

| I sort with the adjustment screw completely counter clockwise, with a copper penny as the coin in the discriminator. I get about 3-5 zincs in my copper pile per $25 box. I run the coppers again with the same setting to get the count, and to get any rogue zincs in the proper box. |

I run mine recently with the adjustment just a quarter to an eighth clockwise from counter clockwise, with and Indian as my sample. All wheats went to reject with copper. No coppers were found in the zincs, just a couple zincs in the copper, resort coper standard got em.
I think Im gonna play with an IH sample coin more now. |
