. . . I wouldn't have any nickel at all.

Ten rolls Canadian nickels from a brand new bank. All were sorted. But the cupronickel was there. The mix of dates among the steel and cupronickel suggest the original population was a pretty good one, but it was pretty well sorted, until the next to last nickel in the last roll, which was .999 Ni (must have been an oversight).

400 nickels
1 .999 Ni (0.25%)

Well, no wonder - you must have been tired driving all the way over here to dump them!

In my experience, yields really depend on which bank you go to. I'm not sure which branch you got your coins from, but I'll give you some banks that have worked well for me.

1) The TD on Bloor and and Bay. I am still averaging about 18% with these guys consistently. (Most TDs I've had good luck with, even out on Danforth)
2) There is a BMO also at Bay and Bloor that usually is quite good, although they are a smaller branch, so you may need to order.

I would avoid the RBC at Bloor and Yonge.

By the way, I unloaded about 7300 zinc pennies and steel nickels over on Woodington. Worked great!

And then I find a old wrapper with the little holes, open it up and find 1965-1981 only - not a CuNi or Steel in sight. Too bad there was only one roll like that :(
