Normal 15% Nickel, 35% CuNi and 50% steel for Nickels, and 50%ish for copper pennies. Interesting finds though include: 1943 US Steel Penny in good condition "20" Swiss CuNi Coin (Nickel like) 10 cent Aussie coin with a neat little hedgehog? on it. Older nickel sized Thai Baht without a value I can read (maybe 1 baht as same size as new 1 bahts I have) Entire roll of US Nickels - nicely labeled 5 dimes in penny rolls entire roll of pennies in a nickel roll (50 cents of value for 2 bucks) and there was one loosy copper in that roll too!

Tried penny sorting today and I'm glad I did- results- $5.00 in pennies bought $1.23 in pre 82 coppers $0.08 copper 82's $0.01 copper Canadian Bonus find My first Indian Head ever dated 1899 (find was also notated on the Indian Head thread) 26.4% not including the Indian. I seem to have better luck when I only buy pennies at $5 at a time, but that is only me I guess. |

this is a great hobby, i havent posted a sorting % report in many months partially because copper started to go down. recently it started going back up and my wife picked a pristine 1984 penny so i decided to sort $10 tonight. i went to the bank, got 20 handwrapped rolls. they looked promising and they were. it looked like somebody busted open a piggy bank stashed away in 1989. (people here in maine wondering how the heck we are going to stay warm this coming winter.) high copper % with many prisine 82's thru 89's 370 copper for 37% including 3 wheats , one a 1917 6 copper canadian 25 1982's and 1 darned dime |

When my wife got after me it sounded like "Blah,Blah,Blah", but now it sounds like "Clink,Clink,Clink". Its amazing what that Ryedale can do for a hounded husband. |

Picked up $10 face in paper Brinks rolls, 19% copper, plus 33 '82s. Not a bad start to the week, by my standards. Also got a nicely toned '22-P Peace dollar for just under melt, and a roll of '43-S nickels for 10% under melt. Also got my first Capped Bust half dollar, although i paid quite a bit over melt for her. Very pretty, tho :) |

M83striker, I just saw your signature line. I'm not even married, but that signature is great!

I'm so sick over pennies....I frequently trade a dime or two for the whole "take-a-penny" container if sufficient coppers exist. That will get you some odd looks.
Steady looking for the elusive Indian head.... |

$55 in Brinks penny-condoms- no copper $20 in CWRs- 20% copper, 2% 1982, no wheats or Canadians $10 in nickels- 5 pre-1962s, nothing special
So, 7 of the last 12 Brinks boxes (14 of the last 24) have been duds. While i'm sure they appreciate my business, i think i'm going to have to stop buying them... since i never even hit 20% on the non-sorted boxes, i'm just spending too much time trucking them from bank to bank. |

Found something in my sorting tonight even tougher than those Indian cents that keep eluding TenBears. I found a very special rare and elusive 1969-S penny. Nope, not the double die.. it was a proof. I have found proof halves and nickels in circulation before, but this was my first proof copper cent. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
