http://www.changeforourearth.com/html/mc_mineforchange.html

on the right hand side there is a hand holding a plant, and it says calculate your change.
there is a box that says "pick a container size" look at how bad it says we are for the environment for hoarding coins.

You are expected to turn in your copper pennies, i will be buying them from you at face.

It is a nice website and I know they mean well, but they have forgotten about the thousands of dollars in change that have been lost by average Americans (metal detectors don't find them all), coins accidently or intentionally thrown out, or coins that are not in circulation and never will be (coin collections.)

Maybe they will take zincs? If so will they pay us for our coins or is it considered charity?

Here is another "D'oh" moment for the greens to stop and realize-
Europe switched over to the Euro back in 1999, how many of the old coins were melted down for new ones? How much pollution was created to turn old coins into new?
Finally, how many Euro coins lie around idle in piggy banks, left in drawers, forgotten about in pockets, are put away as collectables, etc., how many of the old european coins still exist as collections or are lost in the ground, etc.

They mean well of course, but where does the path of good intentions lead to anyway?

It is the same story from them all of the time. The sky is falling and we are to blame. When I was younger they wanted us to switch from paper to plastic bags to save the trees. Oops, now we learn that bags are bad for the environment. My kids came home from school ant told us how the bags last 1000 years in the environment. What a crock. They barely last until we get the groceries home.

Heh, presented by CoinStar.

More helpful tips for saving the earth generously provided by a corporation that just coincidentally would profit from them. How 'bout 'dat?

Nothing of value is an investment unless you possess it. If all you've got are paper, pixels, or promises, you're gambling.

I've read that there are more than 15,000 of those plastic bags per square mile of the ocean's surface.
