Looking around for coin equipment and came up with this:

http://www.cumminsallison.ca/retail/jetcoin.htm

Can't get prices till tomorrow, but have others considered this? Seems like it would be a HCBTT kind of toy.

That looks even better than the one I posted on the other thread (the looks anyways).

Claims to cound 6,000 coins a minute...Isn't that like 10 times faster than Coinstar's?

I'd be interested to know if they can adjust it not to reject silver coins.

The brochure says up to 4,100 coins a minute...says 6,000 on the website.

Hmm...

I hate to see inconsistancies in the numbers. Brand name is good. Pricing is going to be in the 5 figures. I think standard deal for placing the machine is a 50/50 split of the profits with the retailer.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

How about opening a storefront and sorting peoples pennies for them, while keeping a percentage of the copper?

Using standard size containers and knowing the density of copper and zinc you should be able to estimate the percentage of copper from a weighed volume of unsorted pennies pretty closely, and youj can set your rate based on this. You could either count the pennies while they waited or you could have enough space for bins and sort them later. You could charge on whether or not you kept the zinc or if the customer took it back too.

I wonder how many Ryedales one person can run at a time....?

Several run two. I know someone on here who runs three I believe. You will have to let him chime in on that.

Deal

I'm so sick over pennies....I frequently trade a dime or two for the whole "take-a-penny" container if sufficient coppers exist. That will get you some odd looks.

Do we really want the general public to know that their pre 82 pennies are worth 2.5 cents?

6,000 coins per minute? That is 100 per second. Even assuming it means a mix of pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, and halves, it still is 20 per second each. That would be a LOT of noise! 6,000 coins per hour, 100 per minute, would be much easier to believe, and a lot more reasonable for a sorter/counter.

But what do I know?

A penny sorted is a penny earned!
