Hi All,
My first post!
Im getting ready to order a sorter from Andy but in the meantime my son and I are looking to buy some wheats to hunt through...
Are there any real dealers that sell unsearched wheats on eBay?
Most are just BS'ers (or maybe all are?).
Thanks

| i wouldnt buy anything as unsearched. some definately have better mixes but 99% are searched for key dates. |

Yeah, thats what I figured...
Boy, there sure are a lot of interesting stories these guys come up with to dump them 40's and 50's.
I read one where he was selling his grandpas old stash...his grandpa had numerous wheat pennies in 5,000 count canvas bags (yeah right)...but what gave me a kick was when I copied a picture in the auction and enlarged it I could see a $25 penny box in the background...Haha...wonder where that came from. |

nckt.. thanks! That's only cause you know I'm too lazy to search them. I don't have enough time after sorting through all the regular pennies for coppers. I actually had a guy find a 1909-S VDB in a bag I sold a few years ago. But that was only once out of about 300 bags. I certainly wasn't going to take the time to search through that many bags. The reason I don't search them is because I assume somebody must have gone to that trouble sometime in the past. Heck, somebody had to look at them to decide if it was a wheat or a memorial, right? I figure guys have been looking through their pocket change for 100 years trying to find that penny so what are the odds? Funny thing though, last year as I was getting ready to toss about 20 wheat cents from a little ziplock baggie in a bag of wheat cents I was running through the counter before shipping it out, something told me to take a look at them first. I found my 1909-S VDB! In XF! and I probably only paid 3 cents for it from some dealer. I had been staring at that hole in my penny album for 35 years. So mistakes do happen, but it is rare. Conversly it is kind of funny that many buyers expect to find a key date in every bag. What you should expect is common dates.. since that is what was in circulation when many of these bags were put together. I find more wheat cents and better dates now in regular rolls than I did as a kid. Of course I do go through a few more pennies now than I did back then. I found a 14-S in VF and a 15-S in XF in the last 2 weeks! |

Well how'd you find those if you don't search em? Haha
I dont think any wheats are ever 100% unsearched...someone has to seperate them from the other coppers and you gotta at least peak at a few here and there when doing so.
I just thought it would be fun for my kid...but at the same time not looking for a bunch of worn out 50's salted with a few others. It just aint the same when you know they're already searched. |

| No such thing as unsearched. Just human curiosity is going to get you to search a bag before you pass it on to the next guy. You never know that 09-S VDB might be in there. I have bought dozens of "UNSEARCHED" bags and have never found any key dates. Most bags don't even have any 43's in them. It is just a requirement for selling on Ebay if you sell a bag you must put "UNSEARCHED" in your description to get a good price. And the better story you can dream up to go along with it the better price you will get. But people keep falling for it, and leaving positive feedback after they get their bag of 40's and 50's. |

I got bag one from hoard and it contained 1,457 1956d's, 1,789 1957d's, 1,752 1958-d's and one 1944.And yes if you add it up I only received 4,999 and he said if he knew the 44 was in there,he might have opened it and taken it out.I bought it off of him and on ebay where he had it listed That it had been sealed with a metal clamp by his grandpappy in the early 20's so he had no idea what was in there.
I kid of course there were 2 44's in the bag |

I found those in my zinc reject pile when sorting regular pennies for copper. I always sift through the zinc before dumping it in the counting machines. This is where most of the older wheats and Indians land when sorting with a Ryedale. |

LOL.. If I ever sent out a bag like that I would never have had any repeat bidders. You never bid high enough to win any of my bags on eBay misteroman. |

I sell under the name slotdragracer on eBay. I will PM you. You might even be able to get free shipping since you live near me.
Maybe I should put up another bag starting at 2 cents with reserve so we can see just how high misteroman will bid. |

I can deal with 11 IH's, but this?! You need to be stopped.
The only pre-1935 with an S I've gotten has been 1919. You know, the year they made 140 million of them. |

I have a feeling thats going to starting changing since eBay changed its feedback system.
"Sellers can no longer leave negative or neutral Feedback for buyers."
We'll see.
I know Im going to start being more honest now...no more fear of retaliation feedback. |
