Red Flag to crisscross skies above Nellis
Staff report Posted : Tuesday Jul 14, 2009 10:19:17 EDT
Look for the Israeli air force over the skies of southern Nevada as Israel F-16C Fighting Falcons join their American counterparts for the latest Red Flag exercise at Nellis Air Force Base, Nev.
Altogether, 62 planes are expected to fly during the 11-days of mock combat, which started Monday. About 50 aircraft will depart Nellis twice a day to practice air war scenarios involving large groups of aircraft that aircrews don’t often see when flying missions from their home bases.
Here are aircraft scheduled to fly and their missions: Red Air
F-16CG, NellisF-15C, Nellis Blue Air
F-15C/D, Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho Interdiction
F-16CG, Ohio Air National Guard
F-16C, Israel Air Force Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses
F-16CJ, Shaw Air Force Base, S.C. Command, control, intelligence, surveillance & reconnaissance
E-3, Tinker Air Force Base, Okla. Aerial Refueling
KC-135, Fairchild Air Force Base, Wash. KC-135, Scott Air Force Base, Ill. KC-135, RAF Mildenhall

| Interesting, but I don't see a problem here. The Air Force does plenty of mock combat exercises. Nothing wrong with our guys getting some experience with F-16s in a war combat scenario. |

So how do you feel about foriegn troops on u.s. soil? COULD they be gathering intel?
I can be arrested for photographing around city state or federal things and railroads, powerplants, any critical infrastructure, but we are going to let a foriegn MILLITARY fly them?
There is NO need for a foriegn millitary to be on our soil or airspace, for ANY reason. |

These are flyboys, not military boots on the ground. The US Air Force does these combat exercises all the time with our allies.
With the modern spy satellites that are in geosynchronous stationary orbits around the earth, facilities and infrastructure can be pinpointed to an accuracy to see the faces of people on sidewalks these days. Do you think the Israelies have some of these spy satellites already? I do. They've probably got the USA mapped in very fine detail already. But so what, it's not like we're letting Islamic extremists fly around Nevada. |

I would like when considering this situation to keep the "ally country" as say, country x. It is the idea I disagree with as bad principle, not any particular detail like "who" it is or "what they may or may not already know" or "how they could know it.
I feel there have been grave mistakes in policy made in the past and to try to reair or even to try and find a way to repair the damage, we cannot base our solutions upon facts that have come about because of policies based on those mistakes.
If we are to see , we need to look at the base principles as our founding fathers did. I don't care for the principle here. I don't want foreign troops on my soil and I don't want their planes in my skies. I don't want their intel listening to my calls, or anything else that may or may not arise.
It is the principle of the thing. |

Agreed...
U.S.A. = puppet
Israel = master
Therefore Israel is, the puppet master.
The puppet does thy masters biding.
The puppet will protect the master with no holds barred and at any cost.
The puppet is a product of years and years of molding by thy master.
In the end, the puppet will be sacrificed to reach the goal.
That goal thy master is trying to reach is the "New World Order" where thy master will control all...

It's time to cut the strings...

They made a documentary about this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fighter_Pilot:_Operation_Red_Flag It's really quite interesting as the different air forces around the world bring a wide variety of aircraft to Red Flag.
These are all of the countries to have taken part in Red Flag over the years.
United States United Kingdom Brazil (July 1998 and August 2008) Denmark Norway India South Korea Israel Italy Egypt Germany Greece (October 2008) Japan Canada Australia New Zealand Singapore Spain Sweden Turkey Saudi Arabia Venezuela (1992 & 1996) France Netherlands Portugal (March 2000) Belgium Chile ( July 1998) |

Saw a mini documentary made by DW TV (German Television) featuring German Air Force Pilots in the US flying the F14 in training missions. Only the best of the best in the German Air Force get the chance to fly the F14, and what they learn from american Air Force Aces, trainers and fellow pilots, they gain valuable knowledge and take that back to Germany to train other German pilots.
Considering Germany and the US are part of NATO, it does make sense from a military standpoint to have a pool of pilots to call upon to fly American Aricraft in Europe if the need should arise.
Another thing to consider- With the breakup of the old Soviet Union, and Russia now a "friend" (or at least not an adversary in a new cold war) the US military contractors have to compete with Russia to sell military equipment. Making US made equipment available for training, and by gaining priase from those who train with US made equipment, might tip the scale and persuade other governments to buy US military equipment, which in turn helps keep countries friendly with the US. (Sever ties with the US and no more military equipment for the foreign nation, no more updates for said equipment, etc.) |

Political intrigue makes for strange bedfellows... Hopefully the planes aren't carrying live munitions.
Hey, gotta have a showcase for our military industrial complex to show off their wares. Planes-O-Death are one of the few profitable exports we've got left. I say start building the old F-111's again and sell them to both sides in of any conflict were both nations are hostile to us. It's old technology, so were not giving up any secrets, and they can wear themselves down fighting each other instead of attacking us.
Plus, WE NEED THE INCOME!!!!! We're BANKRUPT!!!! Forget the green (Red) nonsense, go with our strengths, build instruments of death, and bring in some much needed revenue. Cuban style healthcare aint gonna pay for itself you know.

Actually, on the last day of Red Flag they do carry live munitions according to the documentary I saw at the USAF museum. |

That's along the lines of what I was thinking. The U.S. stages military exercises all around the world, with our allies in their countries, all the time. I don't think the fact that a foreign military is here is bothering people. Just that it is Israel here....
Deal
p.s Note Israels scheduled mission, "F-16C, Israel Air Force Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses". Practice for Iran? |
