Has anyone here tried to contact brinks or loomis about ordering boxes delivered directly from them?

| I haven't tried. Even if you represented a business, there would be some stiff transportation fees or a contract involved in hiring these folks. I have read somewhere that they only work with business entities and not with the general public. |

| Yes, they will only work with you if you are a business. Also as country mentioned there are lots of fees involved. Most places also make you sign a contract for a certain amount of pickup/ deilvers a month. |

| I called them both to ask if I could pick up coins from them, hoping to avoid delivery fees. One hung up on me, and the other told me I had to be a business. |

You are a HUGE security risk to them because they have no idea who you are! There is no way a big armor car service is going to worth with you unless: A you have a contact with them B you are a legitiment business for them to service C you are another armor car company.

| Yeah, as everyone has stated it wouldn't be worthwhile. You would have to order tons of coins a month (and I mean that literally), and the fees would cut into your profits. It could also raise some red flags around the neighborhood about what an armored truck is coming to your house, opening you up to a robbery. |

I tried to buy from them too. I talked to a lady in the coin room one day for at least 10 minutes. She was super cool. She said they got 1 pallet of new pennies to service 2 major cities. One being 90 miles away.
I was wanting to buy halves but she said I had to go through my bank. |

| I talked to one of the guys driving the truck one day when I saw him delivering to a local store, he said they didn't sell to the public, but gave me the name of a vault manager at a local bank that would probably assist me with buying boxes of coins. |

Need to be a business.
Need to buy volume.
Fees are pretty stiff unless you are getting lots.
You would not be able to specify "old" coins and not new mint stuff unless you know the person running the coin room.
Daunting task, but it has been done. |

This may be a little off topic, but does Brinks deliver halve dollar coins? And if so, are they wrapped in plastic or paper.

The $500 half dollar boxes I get from my bank are from Brinks. Mine are standard paper bullet wrapped; either in the brown Brinks paper or grey paper rolls (without Brinks on them). |

I had one of the head tellers call the central vault and ask for new coins. They did not have any. I need to have her call the central vault and see what the half situation is.
The best thing I have found is to shop around. I have several branches of my bank within 25 miles of my house. Some will order all I want and some have limits. If I need large amounts I order the limits at each one and make up the difference at the one that will order high volumes.
Work the system and let the system work for you. |

A bank i normally dump at, after a long break is now going to be a pick-up and they use brinks. With the pennies being clear wrapped i thought it would be a wonderful way to search for silver in clear plastic wrapped rolls (ie - dimes quarters and halves). Are the dimes and quarters paper shotgun rolls or plastic?
