In empty $25 (2500 cents) boxes that come from Brinks or other coin wrapping service companies. The banks who receive them throw them out after opening them up, so they don't mind saving them for me. They are good for storage purposes.

I've only been sorting for 3 months. I keep the wheat cents in plastic tubes. The rest of the copper cents go in plastic coffee containers.

I've got my pennys in empty Milk Bone dog treat buckets. They stack nicely but you can't use the plastic handles to move them around. I've got to make some room in the basement as the Misses is worried about floor joists in my den

Nice. Yes. Very nice.

Since I get $25 boxes to sort, I reuse them and just toss the loose cents into a penny box. I put enough in each so that every box has exactly 15 pounds of cents in each. I then tape it shut so they don't fall apart and so nothing escapes.

They are easy to stack, and it's easy to count how much I have.

Right now I am just using whatever decent sized quality plastic container is around. I have some in folger's coffee containers and some in gallon orange juice jugs. Working on a kitty litter tub right now...

I might start going to the $25 boxes though, those would stack well and be easy to move.

A word of caution to anyone who uses those gallon juice containers...It is very very hard to get the coins out in a reasonable amount of time. Think 5 minutes of constant shaking.

It would be a lot easier to just use something that doesn't have a narrow lid. But a utility knife would work, also.

I have been keeping my copper pennies in a 5 gallon bucket. Since I filled it, I've been rolling the copper pennies and storing them in the penny bank boxes. I like to know how much I actually have.

In $25 boxes, stacked.

The bonus behind storing them in a huge container is that any thief would have a very difficult time trying to steal it. Smaller lots are much more transportable.

I also store my 1959-1981 in the $25 boxes. When I have 15 pounds I seal the box and then I stack them. I also store all 1982's in a separate $25 box. While going through I also pull out all the wheaties and put them in plastic tubes, sorted by year, and when I fill a plastic tube with 50, I roll it, mark it, and put it in a shoebox.

Honestly, I think the chances are pretty slim for a thief to steal a ton of coppers. Perhaps if silver, this may be a better deterrent, but then it would be worth the effort.

I store mine ROLLED (I have a mid-grade Royal Sovereign machine) in the $25 boxes.

As far as I know, it is stated "In God We Trust" on the US dollar. How can I trust this currency if I do not believe in God?

Possession is nine-tenths of the law.

When I give my two cents, they're always copper!
