Sorted through $2525 worth of halves. I think $1375 were from someones dump, but I cant be certain. I wasent able to finish my bank route that I had planned out so these were just from larger towns. Ill hit the smaller towns when the weather is nicer and hopefully have much better/normal finds

Cant use machine for war nickles.
Dimes and halves all you have to do is look at the side/rims of each coin. This can be done very quickly! |

No machine necessary.
I can date check a roll of halves in about an hour if I'm not re-rolling, and can date check a box of nickels in about 1-1/2 hours. |

| $70 cwr dimes from WaMu...got one '46 Roosevelt (and 2 pennies a 1981d, and a crusty zincoln w/ an unreadable date...); $4.50 loose halves, also from WaMu...got one 90%, a 1964!! Please add these 2 finds to the years total, thanks. |

Search two boxes halves last night. I have gotten in the habit of taking out all the rolls and looking for any obvious keepers facing on the ends. I knew it was gonna be good when I saw the bald eagle of one coin exposed on an end. In all, here were the results (I think most of them came from one box):
(1)- '42-s in nice shape
(1)- '63
(7)- '64
(6)- 40% 'ers
(4) NIFCs
(6) (!!!) - Proofs, including a '73 and 2007
Nice, 15 silver containing halves this time. The proofs were just one after another. Someone's collection got turned in I believe. The neat part about this sort was more than a few times there were two or more silver coins per a roll.
Oh, I picked up four boxes of dimes too and got skunked. Well, at least I am 50% sure on that. Two of the boxes are the clear-wrapped Brinks boxes. I did a quick look on the outside to see any silver. Zilch. Perhaps opening them up and searching will show an incognito silver. |
