Got 4750 in pennies for face value in the coin club auction Wednesday night.. almost got them below face, but guys were bidding against me.
Sorted them tonight and got 1526 coppers.. 32.13%.. well above the normal average of 20% in my area. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Let me see if I understand this? If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 years hard labor; the Iranian border illegally you are detained indefinitely. If you cross the US border illegally, you get a driver’s license, a social security card, welfare, food stamps, free health care!

| % going up here. The last $40 I sorted had just over 45% CU. Including 4 full rolls of CU's and 5 rolls at 96% now if some one will just start dumping there wheats. |

| Ok, so here's the final summary of my 7 boxes....Cu percentage ran from a low of 23% to a high of 28% over the 7 boxes, for a 7 box average Cu % of 25.71%. Not too bad....I'd like to see it go up into the high 20's or low 30's maybe.....what do you folks think? |

| One box sorted with 21.33% copper and 2 wheats. An odd thing about the wheats was that they were found in the same roll back to back. |

Got one of those nice phone calls from one of my banks Wednesday saying they had some pennies for me. Stopped by Friday and picked up a few coins. 140 CWR pennies 40 CWR nickels 60 CWR dimes 2 Shiny new rolls of Hawaii Quarters
Sorted the dimes.. no silver, but did get 1 bonus dime in the group. Also, 2 of the dimes were non-silver Canadian, so that wipes out about half of my bonus dime. They are already rerolled.. ain't automatic rolling machines great? Hopefully I can convert them into more pennies today with some drivebys. |

I just finished sorting 2 boxes. All were CWR's.
My 82 totals are lumped into the total of CU's (though not combined in the boxes).
It was apparent that someone rolled up lots of nice Cu from their piggy bank!
Zinc--2815 Cu and 82's-2131 --43%! Wheaties-28 (oldest 1916) Canadian-23 Dimes-2 2 cent euro-1 |

Sorted 4 boxes,
The U.S. pennies gave me 25.9%, including 28 wheats, oldest a '16. The Canadian pennies gave me 77.4%, including 2 kings, oldest a '39.
Total Cu was 27%, down about a percentage point from summer...

Overall, not a good box; Cu % was lower than the typical 26-33% I've been pulling lately.....silver lining was the '38 Canadian king. |

| I am finally sorting again after a busy summer. I sorted a $50 bag last night. It had 6.4 lbs of copper in it. That would translate to 937 pennies or 18.7%. Before the summer the bags I was getting were 30%+. There were 15 wheats. |

Results of the first of four $50 bags of cents I acquired on 11/15/08:
wheat cents (13): 1919-D 1941 (x2) 1942 1944 1945 1946 1950-D 1951-D 1953 1954-D 1955 1957-D
Canadian (5): 1969 1974 1995 1996 2006 no mintmark
Other: 9 dimes 1975-2007 1981-S proof cent (my first ever!)
PERCENTAGES: zincs (1982-2008): 4002 (80.1%) coppers (1959-1982): 968 (19.4%) wheats (1919-1957): 13 Canadians (1969-2006): 5 dimes (1975-2007): 9 --------------------- 4997 coins totaling $50.78
1982 BREAKDOWN: 101 coppers (87.1%), 15 zincs (12.9%)
I was expecting more wheats, about 25, but this bag totaled $0.78 extra, so I got paid for finding a dozen wheats and a proof. I hope the next bag is this generous, but this copper percentage is the worst non-skunk percent I've had.
