Poll Question:
We have all probably been buying PMs recently with the recent dive in prices... So what have you purchased recently? Please answer what and then post and say quantity and what specifically (i.e. for silver... junk 40%, 90%, ASE, etc...)

Choices:

Copper
Silver
Gold
Platinum
Other precious metal. Please explain...
Did not buy anything
Prices are going lower. Don''''t buy yet!

Just bought ~$9.50 face 90% junk silver!

Total so far: ~$20.00 face.

Lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.

Lets see...
Recently I've been buying everything silver.
So far this week I have either bought or traded for: Peru Sols, Maria Theressa Thalers, a few 10 oz bars, a sheet of maple leafs, a morgan dollar, a few ASE's, a mexican libertad, some junk standing liberty and franklin halves, a few "cable TV" display silver oz coins, and a few generic ozes.

I know there is more, it just hasnt shown up yet. Sales tax is a pain!

I have a hard time resisting the temptation to take a wheat penny out of the take a penny cup when I see one!

I'm in a holding pattern as far as buying goes, but I am back in the half dollar hunt so I get a little every day. I did go to the local today to see what he would give ME for a 3 cent piece I found in the coin reject tray 6 mos ago- got ME a 1oz generic bar for it. I'm waiting on 2 orders from APMEX, had one come in day before yesterday and every week prior so I thought I would continue the hunt while I watch the metals market. Hunting keeps ME from blowing my $$$ also so the hunt has to continue. HH Mark
BTW heres a pic of the coin.

One of my local dealers who had just shipped off his junk was charging 9.2x. Another dealer told me he doesn't hold on to silver or PM's because they're tanking, but referred me to another dealer. So, I went to him and he sold to me at 7.7x face!

Nice find. Actually, the dealer that I went to told me 8.9x, but I bartered...

Bought $1k of asstd. silver last week at my local dealer. Wanted all SAEs but they didn't have enough so I got 63 SAE's, 7 Englehard 1 oz bars, and 10 90% H.D.s.

This was only my 2nd physical purchase.. last one was a couple of weeks ago for 61 SAE's so this one gives a little more variety to the stash.

My problem with the Eagles is that I like some variety. Right now in my apartment I have a few of the "cable TV" items on display. I like to look at my coins so I tend to pay a little higher premium, but I get proofs and other shiny coins that also have a bullion value. For instance I paid $85 for a 4oz "Platinum Eagle" when silver was $20 an oz. It came in a nice display box and everything. I looked it up on ebay last week and one sold for 79.99 + shipping. So even though silver has dropped, the value of this "cable TV" piece has stayed the same.
Just my thoughts on silver investing.

I bought 2 Big Macs for $3. Best deal I could find today. Went to a coin show and the spreads I was quoted were unrealistic so I didn't buy anything. Maybe I will find something at coin club on Tuesday.

I agree with you moboman about variety. Like I said though, aside from some junk silver in my coin collection I'm a newb purchasing PMs. I still have some "dry powder", but I'm also out of a job at the moment so I went for the biggest swinger on the charts while it's down, and hope to catch a bit of gold while it's low as well. All this while I'm steady opening bricks of pennies. :-o

Almost forgot... the SAEs seem to go for stupid high money on eBay, so I want to go a little heavy on them in case I need a quick turn around.

If you dont mind me asking, what kind of premium do you pay on silver eagles, and do you live in a state with sales tax?

Those whoppers can't compare with a Big Mac.. I do everything BIG!

My local dealer has been reasonable so far.. not cheap but not real high either, and no sales tax here on/over $1k.
The SAEs were $3.50 both times, and he apologized saying that it's just been too tight lately to charge less. The bars were $2.50, and the 90% was 8.5x. He's been around since I was a kid (a LONG time ago) and seemed like a straight shooter to me.

The beauty of Whoppers is in the flame-broiling. Char instantly levels the meat playing field to where every animal tastes great.

I've noticed whoppers taste very different from store to store! Big macs seem to taste the same at about every MCy D's.

I guess $3.5 over spot isnt too bad. Your also buying some slight numismatic potential with them that other rounds/bars dont have.

And now back to your regularly scheduled thread

I've been picking up some silver while it's low, but I have too many bills to pay to do a whole lot. On a positive note, I am able to pay off some of my debt with silver

I got the Prospectors for 1.28 over last week.. which seemed real good.. until silver dropped again.. LOL. I went loaded for Bear today (no, not TenBears) and I couldn't touch a thing. I will score eventually though.. I have a coin show just about every week for the next 5 weeks and a coin club meeting at least once a week.

Oh, I almost forgot.. I did get one good thing today. I got another Ryedale in the mail today.. Whoohoo!!!
