Hey to all you scrapper's! I have a question that I hope somebody can help me with. I just had a new air compressor put on my old truck & had the mechanic leave me the old compressor. Does anybody have any info on what I need to look for? It's my first big foray into cracking something open & looking for goodies. The new one cost me $460 in parts so I'm praying there's something worthwhile going after. Thanks in advance.

I've never opened one. Sounds fun though. Part of the allure for me is taking things apart that I don't have to put back together!

Are you throwing that out?

How right you are! I'm tempted to get my sledgehammer out and pretend like it's a metal pinata.

Try finding a diagram of the compressor model online. That should tell you what's inside. Better yet, crack the damn thing open. It's more fun than sitting at a computer.

Careful, there is probably some refrigerant oil in there. Messy if it spills. I'm not sure, but I don't think the result will be worth the work....

Deal

I'm so sick over pennies....I frequently trade a dime or two for the whole "take-a-penny" container if sufficient coppers exist. That will get you some odd looks.

I found a place in town paying 20 cents a lb for sealed compressors. More like the big home ac units. I hear there are stainless steel pistons and copper in there.

scrappin" all over
