OK, was going to keep this to myself, but that would be selfish.

Aside from the current on/off switch overheating during normal use, this weekend I'm going to pick up a dimmer switch from an old Ford Truck and wire it in as a foot switch for the Ryedale.

I'm guessing that most here would agree that the Ryedale needs a foot switch to reduce the reaction time for shutting off the Ryedale when a coin jams.

Two other mods I'm still contemplating are to add a slight compressed air stream just above the coin chute to minimize the coins that stop on the chute. It would probably be better to have the slight air stream come from below like an air hockey table, but I only have one chute and I don't want to risk destroying it.
The other possibility is to vibrate the chute, but I'm not sure if that would potentially increase the number of false rejects as it would also vibrate the discriminator also.

Anyways, just thinking out loud.

Have fun... but I set my Ryedale and walk away, only coming back when I hear a change - no plunk plunk. Not going to tie myself to a foot switch.

What will the compressed air do for you exactly? My coins fly already - vibration would just mess everything up IMO. Let us know how it works for you though.

Not a momentary switch, an on/off switch, that you can toggle with your foot.

In manufacturing, it's a common practice to get parts to slide along a track/rail/tube/etc.... to use vibration. It helps prevents parts from sticking or hanging up. With the Ryedale, the machine is sometimes at the mercy of the quality of the coins put in the machine. Vibration would help the machine accept coins of a lower quality without jamming.

Now just to clarify, when I say vibration, we are not talking about a massage chair. We are talking about something so subtle you wouldn't even see it vibrating.

All the jams I thought were being caused by my chute was actually my hopper and SnP. Good cleaning and lube and NO issues since
