The other day we were eating lunch at a church function. One of my friends told my youngest son (age 5) that he needed some honey (we have bees). He asked my son if it was free. My son said "No we charge for it." My wife replies that we charge cash, check, gold or silver. My fried asked my son if he would take copper? He replies yep, I'll also take aluminum. He then proceeded to tell them how he collects cans for the scrap value. My friend works as an electricialn and promised the little tyke some scrap aluminum wire.

My son also informed them that he would take paper, but only if the market is good.

Nice. He sure pays attention.

Deal

I'm so sick over pennies....I frequently trade a dime or two for the whole "take-a-penny" container if sufficient coppers exist. That will get you some odd looks.

If he keeps it up he'll own a scrap yard by the time he's 20yrs old.
I wish I had, lots and lots of money in scrap.
Your doing a good job raising him by teaching him about money early on.

The good news is that he listens. The bad news is that he listens and sometimes I am not perfect.

Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

I used to also be a beekeeper. Didn't sell it for gold though! It was free for me and my family's stomachs!

We process honey where I work. We get in 55 gallon drums of the stuff. We had a guy puncture two drums with a forklift once and not notice it before a holiday weekend. I've never seen so much honey on the warehouse floor!!

Are you throwing that out?

That's aweful. When it comes to messes, a little honey goes a long way.
