Poll Question:
Just going off of lukes poll.As it looks like it will be McCain vs Obama . I would add hilary as I heard she may run independent but I don't think the party would let her(would talk her out of it) as it would give McCain a landslide victory.

Rather have Obama in there than BUSH LITE, if they don't fix Social Security and Medicare (Healthcare), the boomer revolt will be felt. The only answer is to look at the late 90s and repeat them by giving up the tax breaks and buckling down for the long haul, else we will have real economic problems with the budget deficiet. Out of the three candidates, Obama makes the most sense and I am a white dude from Louisiana who normally votes republican.
sorry folks, he is not form the South, his values are from the midwest, Grandfather who raised him was Oilfield and Rancher stock, not Southern BBQ, he was raised in Hawaii so you go figure! (Grandparents moved there after the war). |

Unless Ron Paul manages to get on the ballot I'll be voting either Libertarian or Constitution. Usually both parties are on the ballot here in Mississippi.
I won't vote for any "establishment" politician who's voting record gives evidence they have violated their oath of office. That's almost all of them.
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.
IMHO those who have demonstrably violated this oath are guilty of treason and should be tried and sentenced accordingly. |

Sorry, I didn't vote above. I will not cast my vote for either of these two. My State is already so republican that McCain will get this state, but I will vote for the right person. Hopefully Ron Paul, Dennis Kusenich, or if neither are on the ballot then I plan to vote constitution party.
Even then I fear the electronic voting will be change my vote to what the computer has been programed to say. If I vote absentee I know it will just get thrown out.
As a kid I complained as to why the people in the USSR voted when they knew it made no difference. Now I know, I will vote, but I know it will make no difference. |

Sadly for the first time in my life I may not bother to vote... With the Diebold machines, what is the point? If I do I will either write in Ron Paul or vote Libertarian.

"But nobody really appreciates laissez-faire capitalism, least of all the capitalists. They all want to control the future, not let it happen. And everybody wants to gain some edge...some little favor or advantage – a monopoly, a subsidy, a fat contract with the government, a handout, free food, free medicine, crop supports, student loans, a guaranteed pension, a bailout, a tax credit...some kind of greasy giveaway; the last thing they want is a free market, where the chips fall where they may." - Bill Bonner |

| Writing in Ron Paul here. I don't care how much 'lesser evil' either of the above candidates may be; they're still evil. I can't stand it when people say they refuse to write in another candidate or vote for a third-party candidate because they "don't want to waste their vote." As far as I'm concerned, voting for a candidate backed by the party machine is about as wasteful as it gets. It's not a prediction contest...you're not supposed to vote for the candidate that you think will win, you're supposed to vote for the candidate that shares your values and best represents your country. |

the poll question gave a choice between 2 candidates, so between those 2 its an easy vote for McCain.
not who i'll be voting for in the election but i'll still go to vote. thats a privilage and i'll take advantage of it - whether it really matters or not |

I think I am going to run in 2020. I am going to run on less government and lower taxes. I plan on getting about no votes though.
As much as people talk about it... few want less government. It just sounds cool to make people think you are for it. Big storms destory whole towns and cities... people blame the government for not doing enough. Jobs leave... blame the government. People don't have health insurance... blame the government.
Everyone's fair share is about $15,000 each a year in federal taxes. Very few are paying their fair share. A family of 4 would owe $60k.
Just remember, more the government spends above what it taxes (compared to the governments of other FIAT currencies) ... the more pressure on the dollar they put. Bush did a great job of spending money. Clinton did too. (Clinton just got lucky on tax receipts from the Tech boom)
They only bright side is someone real smart thought up the current system (no way Congress figured it out). Spend all you want it is impossible to default, but it is inflationary as hell.

The point of 90% of taxation is robbing from the rich and giving to the poor. If everybody payed their fair share that would invalidate the point wouldn't it? :p There are only a few valid exceptions: Military, court systems, and police, in which all citizens share equally. |

Very True lukeownzu.
The problem is 10-20% of the spending is done through printing FRN/U.S. Treasuries, which cause inflation.
Inflation hits the poor the hardest. It hits them like a brink in the face.
In 2007, $20.67 from 1900 is worth: $526.51 using the Consumer Price Index $450.38 using the GDP deflator $1,421.24 using the value of consumer bundle * $2,413.96 using the unskilled wage * $3,504.54 using the nominal GDP per capita $13,910.29 using the relative share of GDP
Gold would be around $900 or so. So reported inflation has under pinned natural inflation due to the government counting productivity gains. True inflation is pure money supply vs demand of goods. Everything else shouldn't count. Increase in cost of living isn't inflation--though most people in common day consider them as such. The bundle of goods is implying that overall goods are 150% better now. I guess it demand on the basket of goods. (not that I was around in 1900)
My point is look at unskilled labor. Its cost has increased 200% to 400% in real terms. That cost is the poorer peoples income. The rich are going to get a their share and then some of GDP. They own the business, land, and capital. It increased 1400%, and they would have done better than that. The ability to pass on your increased cost to those below you help you greatly.
Long term inflation will destory the poorer people first. They are for the most part not educated enough to understand the causes of the inflation, so they will still elect people that don't care.
