jin.coy, I've enjoyed your posts. Nice formal introduction. Mcprice302, welcome. You'll find tons of useful information here. Nice score on your first try. Don't get used to those percentages, hehe.

*Planning half hoarding trip to Alabama* Nah, don't worry about it Mike.. I am too busy at work and home to get any travel in. I'm lucky if I can make it to any banks anymore to pick up a few measely boxes to sort.
Glad to have you on board too jin.coy. I have enjoyed your posts as well. I'm sure I would have been hitting those nickels hard if I lived farther north.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Let me see if I understand this? If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 years hard labor; the Iranian border illegally you are detained indefinitely. If you cross the US border illegally, you get a driver’s license, a social security card, welfare, food stamps, free health care!

| I should have posted this a long time ago, but, hey from NY! Long-time numismatist, new to roll hunting. Just went through my BoB and was advised to check out metals. Here I am! |
As far as I know, it is stated "In God We Trust" on the US dollar. How can I trust this currency if I do not believe in God?

Good Morning to all! I live in West Texas, am married, 3 grown children 9 grandchildren and one on the way. Hubby works in the now depressed oil field. He thinks I have totally lost my mind collecting pennies but has decided after listening to the dreaded news thinks it might be a good idea. I am trying to get up the nerve to ask for a Ryedale for my 38th anniversary coming up lol. Hey, you never know right!
Just a few days ago, I registered here and have done nothing but read post. There is a wealth of information here. I decided to start saving pennies a couple of months ago since gold and silver are right now is not in the budget. It is so addicting. After reading, I find that I should have been checking for the special pennies. Since I know very little about what is collectible and what is not, all the post have really helped me in determining what to look for. Have not found anything special except some older wheats and 1940's Canadian pennies. While sitting here last night I remembered a little box that was in my father in laws things when he passed away. After searching several hours I found it and to my surprise it was full of wheat pennies, buffalo nickels, war nickels, silver dimes, pre-1964 quarters and several older silver dollars and half dollars. Not sure if any of them are worth much but the silver was worth finding the box.
Really enjoy all the post and info.

Hello everyone. I have been enjoying all the great posts here for 6 months or so.In that time I have hand sorted enuff pennies to have almost filled my second 5 gallon bucket.I have always been interested in coins but now maybe I'm in the fanatic group. Now I'm looking for and finding a few errors, after buying a cherrypickers book(a few 1998 and 2000 wide am). Also been sorting nickels and halves when I can find them. Opened more bank accounts then I ever thought I'd have, and located and visited every coin counter in a 30 mile radius. Now its time to but a ryedale and coin sorter/counter since having locked up a source for $50 bags and have standing weekly orders for several hundred in pennies.I have learned so much here and thankful that others have shared there knowledge.

Welcome smartinson and pennypauper. I'm not sure if anyone told you but I am in charge of collecting the annual membership fee. So if each of you could mail me one American Silver Eagle, I will check your name off the list. Just kidding... It's nice to have you both here. You will learn alot from the members here. This is the best forum on the planet so sit back and enjoy. |

| Well Highroller, last year my hubby and son got their gas powered, remote controled Hummer and Monster Truck for our anniversary. The theory was it wouldn't be fun if he didn't have some one to race. So, maybe a Ryedale this year. Already learning alot and enjoy everyone's post. Had to go get me some glasses today so I could see what I had lol. Started to ask for a penny to see if the Dr. needed to bump up the prescription. Will definately send you my membership fee Coin Hunter when I find one in mint condition. |

| Yep definitely kidding smartinson. We are very glad to have you here. We dont have too many females that I know of on the forum, so it's nice to hear opinions from the ladies. I am lucky that my g/f is supportive of what I do with copper hoarding, but it sounds like you have gone even further and are 100% into this. That's awesome! :) |

| My better half would rather I stock up on food but he said if I was into copper I could have all his old welding leads. Pure copper. That was nice of him. I have found 3 banks that will save me bags and 4 let me have all the boxes I want just have to drive quite a ways to get them. Would love to live in a larger town, have to roll everything or drive 40 miles to dump the zincs. It is really easy to get addicted to it. |

You really cant go wrong with either one. My g/f is totally on board now with stocking food and planting a garden. While copper is much more fun, food is the ultimate survival item.
What do you do with the welding items? Do you store them or do you send them to the refiner and use the proceeds for obtaining more copper in cent form? |

| For 30 years we had a welding business and did mostly oilfield work. So he went through lots of leads from welder to stinger. After awhile had to buy new. There is a pile of heavy copper wire laying in the steal pile. When the price of copper goes up to those big $$$ I will be ready to head to the salvage yard. Just keep til price is right. I am a saver til things get better mostly. |

| Brand Spankin New! Lets see I really didn't have any interest in collecting coins until a few months ago, when it was brought to my attention how easily attainable boxes of coins were and how fun it was to search through them for either silver or copper. Been hooked ever since and have almost 100 lbs of copper laying about :) |

I started posting about a month ago but I never saw this thread. Basically......I like:
-Coins- Platinum, gold, silver & now copper. -Knives- I like them all. From expensive William Henry to flimsy $1.00 knives. Swords also. -Guns- Not fanatic. If burglar tried to rob me I would only shoot in knee lol. I dont want to kill. Interested in learning to hunt for survival.

Whoops...I never introduced myself. Hi, my name is Chris and I came across this message board one day while researching P.M.'s. So far, I have sorted through 28600 pennies, have about $90 F.V. of copper and found two indian heads. At my current rate I sort through about a box per week. I'm accostumed to collecting and hoarding things as I also collect autographs; this whole penny thing comes natural to me. Part of my collection is online at www.freewebs.com/jamiewalkerfan but I haven't updated it in a while. Anyways, besides metals and autographs, I have a passion for aviation and I'll be an engineering student starting next fall at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. |

| I'm from eastern NC and work for the man (State of NC). I've always been fascinated with money mainly coins since I was young and my grandfather showed me a large cent that he found on the farm when he was a young boy feeding the pigs. He carried that penny to Japan and back during WWII and then lost it while farming in the 50's; he said that he walked the field he lost it in for almost a week before he lucked up and found it after that he put it in his wallet and by the time I was of any age it was wore down to where it was unreadable but his story peeked my interest. Anough rambling; I'm 36 yrs. old married and have a 19 mnth. old little girl. PS my wife thinks I'm crazy about my penny hoarding investment (she has a minor in phycology). |

Hi, after lurking for quite a while, decided to join the forum. I found out about realcent from the GIM forum and I've always been impressed by the quality of posts here. I've mainly dealt with storing US nickels, hence the username, but I am exploring the idea of buying copper chops at a wholesale price, through my job and building a stockpile of copper. I run a gray and ductile iron jobbing foundry in the upper Midwest, been in the foundry biz for 30 years, steel and iron, no nonferrous.
Glad to be here! |
