OK guys, I'm up to my neck in $500 worth of clad halves at the moment and the way things are looking I'm guessing the other $500 I also picked up this morning will also be clads. The bank I picked up at is my main bank where I get my paycheck deposited, and so far they're the only bank in town that has been willing to hold and/or order $1000 in halves per week (the other branches around town send all their halves to the main branch). I got two $500 sleeves full of $10 rolls of halves, and so far every roll I've opened has had coins marked on the edge with a purple marker, which I'm guessing will help the person who dumped these to know if he's getting his dumps back. So this would be very counterproductive to keep picking up coins from this bank if in fact it's someone else's dump.

So what I'm wondering is if I might have better luck and find more user-friendly attitudes toward customers if I reoopen my account at the credit union I joined last year when I was sorting pennies. The general sense I got before was that they were much more customer-oriented, even though I'm guessing they won't be doing the volume of coins that my main bank does. Should I go ahead and cancel all future pickups at my main bank and try the credit union instead? If this major dumpage is what I'll be getting every week from my main bank, I don't think it's gonna be worth it.

I would wait on cancelling your future orders. I would try it for a couple of more weeks and see if you get the dumps back. It be just a one shot deal.

Well, I picked up $160 in halves last week before I placed an order for a full $1000 bag, and most of the halves in the $160 also had the same purple marks on them. I don't want to just be spinning my wheels if these are all going to be someone else's dump.

When they order you a box is it a Brinks or NF box? If you are getting rolls that are customer wrapped and marked you are getting someones dumps. If you are getting Brinks or NF String boxes I would keep ordering for a while and see what happens. Also if they already had a couple boxes in their vault you got those first so after a couple weeks you may get some fresh boxes...

I didn't order a box because they said they'd have bags of halves. And as it turns out, they're wrapped in coin sleeves that have the bank's name and logo on them, so everything is in-house. They aren't ordering from outsiders, they're just compiling what's coming in from all their branches. And so far I've hit $700 in clads and not a single silver, and the vast majority of the clads had ink marks on the edges, so apparently these are dumps. They are the same markings that were on the halves I picked up last week.

you would have to basically have to do double work. you would have to go through all the dumps from someone else to maybe hit some that were turned in by another customer. I would ditch...

I think you have to find a source bank that orders boxes of halves. That way you have a chance to get beyond someone else's dumps.

I'm going to hit up the credit union on Monday. Like I said above, they impressed me before with their customer-oriented attitude toward me when I was sorting pennies and they were more than happy to hold bags for me, so I'll give them a shot and hope nobody is dumping there.

I'm in a similar situation. Two boxes and nothing! I think I'm getting my old dumps, but assume they must be mixed with new ones, so after a while I'll get new stuff. Hangin' in there...

As far as I know, it is stated "In God We Trust" on the US dollar. How can I trust this currency if I do not believe in God?

Possession is nine-tenths of the law.

When I give my two cents, they're always copper!

I always thought 0 silvers out of a box or bag of halves was the norm.

Switch to dimes.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Let me see if I understand this? If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 years hard labor; the Iranian border illegally you are detained indefinitely. If you cross the US border illegally, you get a driver’s license, a social security card, welfare, food stamps, free health care!

Or start sorting copper again.
