I found a 1970 Switzerland 20 Rappen.

It was uncirculated.

I find the coins from Switzerland to be very pretty in design; not sure what you guys think.

The World Coin Book says its worth about $1. But is that retail? Is there a blue book version coin book for world coins?

I love Swiss coins. Its worth roughly face value (Swiss franc is almost at parity). Its only worth $1 if its totally uncirculated.

So its worth about 20 cents in circulated condition?

I wish they would design U.S. coins more in this fashion.

Its worth 20 cents in theory from the fact that the Swiss Franc is basically worth the same as a US Dollar. So 20 Rappen = 20 cents exchange value, roughly. Now finding someone who is going to Switzerland is your problem ;)

I thought it was still cool to find it. I definitely appreciate the design more than our modern coins

I appreciate Switzerland's design consistency. Most of the Swiss coins still use their 19th century designs, and the lack of cluttered text is very refreshing. The 20 rappen has not changed in any way since 1939, and the 10 rappen coin is identical to the 1879 versions.

PennySaved...I agree. It sure is fun to find interesting coins from other countries occasionally in our searches.

Does anyone on here that is a long time coin collector have any idea which country's coins produce the most collectors, either within their own country or in other countries? Or, also, which country has the most coin collectors amongst its population?

Thanks.

UK would be my bet for most coin collectors.
