So I am searching Nickels tonight and run across what may be a blank planchet. It is approximately the say diameter, it sounds the approximately same against a wood surface, it weighs the same as a nickel.

Even the edges are slightly raised(don't know if this would normal circulation damage though).

Is there a big market for making Nickel slugs?

Probably not, especially while the melt ban is in force. But there may be a market for hunks of cupronickel, if made for educational purposes.

Looks like a blank planchet for your collection. Cool.

Ya probably. I took it to my dealer to confirm. He agreed it was a type 2 Nickel planchet. Just for sh*t and giggles I will list for $10ish on the bay. There aren't a ton of Nickel Planchets so you never know. :)

That's a kewl find oober. {:-)

The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; second is war. Both bring a temporary (and false) prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunities.
