I frequently find modern Euro 2 cents when I am searching pennies. They are worth 0.02982 US cents (so you almost triple your money)
I keep them although I know they have no intrinsic metal value.
Would it be worth saving up several Euro dollars and then taking it into the bank to convert to US? I know they convert Euro dollars but if you took them a bag of Euro cents would they convert those?

Banks don't convert foreign coin.
Best thing to do is to take them with you on a trip to Europe. |

So why do they convert paper dollars but not coin? Because of the cost to ship it?
With the way the economy is going, I don't see me going on any trips to Europe haha |

| Banks in Canada will not even convert US coin (and vice versa). They would have to incur tremendous expense in shipping it back to the country of origin. Heck, most banks don't even want to accept the LOCAL coinage! lol |

| Guess it may be worth trying to get several dollars and sell it on Craigslist? Maybe someone traveling to Europe would be interested. Too bad i don't live in NYC, I saw a TV special where many of the stores there welcome payments in Euros. |

It's all because of the cost to ship it, count it, store it. Paper doesn't weigh much, so it's cheap, but they still take a cut.
If you ever visit an international airport, you could stand by the coffee shop or ticket counter and offer to trade currencies with someone heading over.
Or, do what the last guy did before you got it and spend it at a convenience store.
I keep the Euros cents because it's fun. Canadian coins I spend - living in a border state the stores have always taken them without question. Canadian copper cents I keep.

Yeah. I've called around to several banks that do foreign exchange and they don't do coin. Save them and sell them when you've got enough.

Do you usually find Euro coins sorting any other coins (ie nickels, dimes, quarters)?
I just started sorting nickels and didn't find any Euro denomination money sorting nickels.
Are pennies going to be the most common place to find them? |

Euro nickels *er- 5 cent* are exactly the same size as US nickels, but they are copper plated steel.
Euro one cents are the size of a dime. |

| Do you commonly find the 1 cent or the euro nickels when you sort other change? I have found a one cent Euro in a customer rolled penny roll but mostly find the 2 cent Euros. |

I only have a single 1 cent Euro, and a single 5 cent Euro. I don't sort dimes or nickels, so I don't know how many you'd ever find. The ones you do find would probably come from consumer wrapped rolls - here's why:
Euro coins are steel, and Canadian coins are too. Counting machines probably use magnets to pull those out.
But not pennies. Since pennies are low value, they probably don't bother with magnetic separation. I frequently get foreign coins from US penny rolls - but not that many. I've gone through about $7,500 of pennies, and out of that have pulled out maybe 30 foreign coins other than Canadian, and the Canadian ones are both zinc and steel. |

| I have found four Euro 10 cent pieces and seven Euro 5 cent pieces after sorting about $1500 in pennies. |
Just my two cents! |

I get Euro coins in Canada too - in pennies and nickels. Can't trade them at a bank but you could sell them to someone heading over to Europe. They also come with various reverses, so you could collect them. I understand some countries in Europe do not use the 1 euro cent which may be why the 2 cents seem to be more common. Also the 2 cents blend into our pennies.
I also get a fair amount of UK coins in Canada. The pic of the queen helps them pass easily. I find the UK "5" in with dimes regularly. |

The way the dollar is going.. I wouldn't mind having a ton or 2. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Let me see if I understand this? If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 years hard labor; the Iranian border illegally you are detained indefinitely. If you cross the US border illegally, you get a driver’s license, a social security card, welfare, food stamps, free health care!

I collect them. Maybe someday I'll fill a Euro Coins folder.
I find most of them on sorting machine magnets. |
