Here's a photo showing the other pretty jar and it is larger than the other one that I bought at a yard sale to hold all of my 2009 pennies that I have found so far.

As you can see the contents of it are extremely sparse as well. But, I have high hopes that it will someday be filled with 2009 pennies.

Besides being hindered by having to learn this new task tonight, my wireless mouse won't work on the table where I am sitting and I am having to try to relearn to use the touch pad. Getting old is so hard--having to remember different things. Gee whiz, you'd think this computer would give me a break and cooperate for once!

Enjoy.

Get a mousepad or a sheet of paper and the wireless will work.

Good luck!

But won't they get all scratched up in a jar?

I think it was my mouse beginning to go bad. It wouldn't work at all this morning so we went out to buy a new one. The new one is working great but it sure is sensitive compared to how the older one handled.

But, thanks for the tips and i will remember to have a sheet of papr with me as I normally don't carry a mouse pad in my computer case.

If you would like to speed up your collection of 2009 pennies, I would trade you something for all of my 2009's :)

i have my 2009's in jars...maybe I need to get a rolling machine so they don't get scratched. I guess because our economy here in TX is always going they send us the new pennies...I save only the BU's and let the rest go. I got into this recently and it seems to have taken over my life. please help. THINKING POSITIVE I guess it could be worse.;-)

That's amazing that the 09's aren't more common over there.
There are at least 25 per box in our mix these days.

Good luck!!!

I know. It is horrible. But, what can I do. I just sort and hope. That's part of the fun of the sort--not knowing what I might find.

I am hoping that eventually things will even out and those pennies will trickle down to Central Florida and my bank and the rolls I obtain to search.

I do have one roll that my niece sent me that I am not putting into the jar. She got the roll in Virginia and she sent me one and her dad one. I need to get it out of the sealed wrapper it is in and transferred to a plastic coin tube to preserve these for the future for my son. Just haven't had the extra energy to open up the new white gloves I bought for handling these during the transfer as my hands shake too much these days to try it without using gloves as I don't want to damage the coins in any way. My brother who has been a coin collector for probably about the last 50 years said always take anything like that out of the original paper roll and put in plastic coin tube or the paper will have some sort of chemical reaction on the pennies down the line and damage them.

Yet, I have also heard that some people might want them in their sealed wrappers in the future. Oh well. I'll ponder it awhile longer before making my decision to put in coin tube or leave in original wrapper. Maybe by then, I'll have some more energy.

If the coins are in there original bank wrap roll then I would leave them be....The value here is the fact that the coins are in a original bank wrapped roll not necessarily the individual coins...similar to baseball cards...an unopened pack from the 50's is valued much higher than the same amount of cards that you can view because of the possibility of having a high value card/coin in the pack/roll.

That 's the way I see it. Today the DR told me that my disk is ruptured between L3 & L4. Most likely from picking up multiple boxes of pennies....not. THINKING POSITIVELY it may allow me more time to sort...maybe if I can get one of my fam members to pickup from the bank for me. Life goes on. 8-)

Fasteddy...I am sorry to hear that your back/disks are bothering you. I certainly hope you are doing better very soon. By all means, ask your family to help you out by getting coins to search. It will give you something to do and will take your mind off of your problems for awhile.

Feel Better Soon.
