I frequently go to the library to pick up used books for cheap.
Had never seen a coin book in the several years I have been picking up books.
I have the World Coin Book 1900-2000 but dont have the 1800-1900 and the 2001 to present. Saw the 2001 to present at the used book store yesterday for $14 but couldn't bring myself to buy it.
Was excited that a day later I happened into the library and found a copy for 50 cents.
Not sure if you guys agree but the World Coin book is one of the best references for world coin collectors.

Not all silver coins were listed on that thread but a large majority were.
That book is a great source not only for the silver and gold coins minted worldwide, but the copper and nickel coins and steel coins that were produced (and to be avoided if you are looking for nickel.) |

| I have a 1990 version of the World Coin Book that I use as a resource. It lists coins from 1801-1989. While the values may be out of date, it is invaluable to determine the metallic composition of older coins. Maybe you can pick one up cheap in a used book store. |

| Yeah I agree that you do not necessarily need an updated one. They are nice to have just as references for weird things you might find while penny sorting. |

I miss your point. That is a paperback version and now at .87 plus shipping and I''m sure that is somewhat of an addional cost added to the book. This post is about a 0.50 book with no postage, handling, shipping, etc. So what is the point here? |

the point is not to brag that i got a better deal but that if anyone else wants this book it can be obtained at a fraction of its published cost. I'm sure the OP's library only had 1 copy at 50 cents and that library is not convenient for most of the members even if they had another copy at 50 cents. sorry if the price went up from 76 cents to 87 cents. |

The point was that someone was happy to find a coin book for .50 and not who can outdo that. If that was the post, then I'm sure someone out there received such a book free. AND I'm sure someone would come back with a story of how someone paid them to take a book off their hands.
I'll just stick to a .50 coin book is OK with me. |

| It's always nice to build your reference library, and if you can do it affordably like PennySaved did that just leaves more money for coin purchases. Congratulations. I'm sure you'll get many years of worthwhile use from that book. |
