What would you say is a fair price for 300 Indian Head pennies? How low would it have to go before you could not pass it up?

I guess it'd depend on the shape of them.

.... and the dates. Some are very rare. Most dealers sell G/VG common dates for about a dollar or 75 cents.

It very much depends on the shape + date.

For some reason the rumor is that "all Indian Heads are worth at least $1 each".

Every person that knows nothing about coins whatsoever seems to think this.

I buy AG/G commons on ebay from time to time and 80 cents per is a pretty good deal for that in semi-bulk.

For terrible looking sub-AG the "can't pass up" value is probably 41 cents per.

I would go by the current buy prices from dealers in your area so you can build a price off that. Avg. Date and Condition coins around here buy at .50-.75 and sell for $1-1.50. But better dates and conditions will require a book or the bay from there.

Dealers here in Madison, WI pay roughly 50-55 cents each in bulk.

My hobby: collecting real money 1 copper cent or nickel at a time.

If they are decent shape than I would try to get them for 75cents each. If they were all junked up and crappy I would probably pay 40 cents each, only because there are some really valuable dates that are out there.
