I can finally join the 2009 IH club. I found a 1906 in a bag. Not a bad penny, I can read the full liberty.
I knew it was going to be a good bag when I saw 2- 1928 looking at me from the bag. I got a knife and slit it open and grabbed them. Then there was another and another wheat... I found the IH hand sorting the bag out of excitement.
So far sifting through the bag I have found 86 wheats, 1 IH and 3 2009 wood choppers (I finally got my first ones yesterday).

| I just knew today would be a great day- congrats knibloe! |
The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; second is war. Both bring a temporary (and false) prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunities. |

| Congrats on the IHC and on finding 86 wheats! |

I hand sorted the bag. I found 2 IH 1906 and 1901. There were 121 wheats including 2 steels, and one 1928 canadian king george.
After finding the indian and steel pennies I told my wife I would need to get a 1909 out of it to make it a perfect trifecta. I suppose that finding the King George made it a trifecta anyway. A 1909 would have made it a grand slam bag!! |

I bought the 4 bags they had, and the head teller always calls me(long distance no less) when she has more.
I am going to call her and ask to hold onto any bags of dimes and qtrs. The last time the elderly woman was dumping coins, I got 7 silver qtrs, 12 silver dimes and 7-8 war nickels. I'll get the dimes and qtrs, but $1400 on nickles was too much work for the small return. It took me a year to hand sort the darn things. In fact, I think that there are still some in the garage. |

Congrats on getting your first Indian Head of the year! I still haven't gotten one this year. Guess I just need to "sort more." You have to work on your nickel sorting technique. Even though I am a machine sorter most of the time, I hand sorted about half that many nickels in a couple of days. I agree that the returns are low, but bagging a hide can be just as exciting as finding an IHC. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Let me see if I understand this? If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 years hard labor; the Iranian border illegally you are detained indefinitely. If you cross the US border illegally, you get a driver’s license, a social security card, welfare, food stamps, free health care!
