Blunt 5

Pointed 5

Hope that helps.

The harder to find one is the Large Bead Pointed 5 variety. But it is not rare. I have found all 4 varieties here in MI.

Bluegill... that helps, thanks. My problem is that the blunt 5 still looks pointed!

haha, hobo. nice.
Okay, I know about the 1965 and 1985. Anything in between those dates? I'm working my way through a bag of 70's...

The 1967 commemorative 1c. coin is pretty popular,as are the 1992 & 2002 commemorative 1c. coins.

Okay, this is where I am now. I had sorted the collection into different effigies and decades, but then I put the collection aside through a move. So today I was digging through the 80's bag. I get the 1985 blunt and pointed 5, it's basically like the 1965 we talked about. Right?

So what's the deal on the 1983 beads? Are they easily distinguishable, and are both reasonably findable?

2000 thru 2006 came in both Zn and Fe specimens. The Fe specimens had a "p" composition mark to indicate plated.

2003 also had the "Crowned" and "Uncrowned" varieties, making a total of 4 combination's for that year.

2006 had 4 combination's too. Zn with and without the RCM mint mark. Fe with and without the RCM mint mark. The one without the mint mark had the "p" mark.

Supposedly in 2006, some Fe planchettes accidentally went through the Zn production line. Creating a unmarked Fe specimen. Very rare.

So is this right? 27 varieties in the last 11 years?
2000 zinc (plain) or steel (P)
2001 zinc (plain) or steel (P)
2002 zinc (plain) or steel (P)
2003 crowned: zinc(plain) or steel(P)
2003 uncrowned: zinc(plain) or steel(P)
2004 zinc (plain) or steel (P)
2005 zinc (plain) or steel (P)
2006 zinc(plain), zinc(RCM), steel(RCM), steel(P), steel(plain(rare))
2007 zinc (plain) or steel (P)
2008 zinc (plain) or steel (P)
2009 zinc (plain) or steel (P)
2010 zinc (plain) or steel (P)

And were there any varieties from 1986 to 1999?

Wait... what were the 2007-2010 coins made of? Were there still two varieties?
