If you're fat, that can be burned off. If you're a criminal, small 'crimes' can be forgiven, especially when you're 18 they are expunged from your record. Not everyone want to kill, or willing to kill. American has a volunteer military. Even with small numbers of troops, technology replaces most of the jobs that once needed people. And the severe punishment the government can do by voiding the contract and forcing you to stay in even when its up, turns a lot of people away from staying in.

"...a matter of national security."

"...to urge immediate action to reduce dropout rates and improve the physical and moral fitness of the nation's youth."

That makes me nervous. All through history, "A matter national security" has always been the rallying cry of the oppressor. I can only imagine what how many new despicable unconstitutional ideas they will conjure up and justify with "a matter of national security".

I can't help but wonder if the PTB are getting worried they will run short of cannon fodder for all their upcoming wars.

I've seen similar news about 5 years ago. If only they were serious about the moral part and understood the connection. A nation following Hollywood values and slipping into socialist politics has a lot of obstacles.

That's not a dollar, mate...THIS is a dollar.

Yes Billo,I agree. We know whats happening, but the story just opened my eyes to the severity of it.
And while I also agree with Bluegill that such emergencys can be used for other than noble purposes,i.e bailouts, healthcare reform, ect. It's my hope that enough people will get fed up and change their habits and stop going along with the popular ideas and feeding the movie types and media companys which are leading our youth down dark streets. We reap what we sow.

Also the video game mentality.
