Is that your article or just offering links here and there as an expression of your opinion?

The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; second is war. Both bring a temporary (and false) prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunities.

I don't want it to soar yet.. I don't have enough!

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Let me see if I understand this? If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 years hard labor; the Iranian border illegally you are detained indefinitely. If you cross the US border illegally, you get a driver’s license, a social security card, welfare, food stamps, free health care!

Does it matter? What difference does it make if a particular article is representative of someone's viewpoint or is merely linked to stimulate reflective thinking?

I for one am just glad that anyone takes the time to find and review topics pertinent to our hobby and post them, because it saves us the most precious commodity of all... TIME! Something that not even Hoard has enough of.

Just curious, how did silver do in 1929...since we're heading for a 1929 redux anyway?

In the MSM, opinion and the news sometimes (or much of the time) get so blurred together you can't tell which is which.

I was just rereading the article that Country posted at the top of the thread, and I got to wondering--instead of looking at silver's inflation-adjusted 1980 high, what would the current price be if adjusted back to 1980 price levels? I'd guess around $4 an ounce?? Anyone good with this kind of economics math?

Using this site: http://www.westegg.com/inflation/infl.cgi

$17.50 an ounce in 2008 dollars (because 2009 is not completed yet) would be $6.20 in 1980's dollars.

So our $17.50 price for silver, which is pretty good since the 1980's crash, is small potatos compared to $50/oz 1980's dollars price,

Here is something else to consider- they are using government inflation numbers, not shadowstats inflation numbers

http://tinyurl.com/3x8qmo

The CPI calculated the old 'honest' way (relatively honest I guess) inflation from 1980-2007 would be 7.358
(The article is dated from 2007 so I will take for granted inflation hasn't spiked too much in 2 years.)

$17.50 in 2007 dollars divided by 7.358 equals roughly $2.37 in 1980 dollars.

If the shadowstats figures are accurate (and I don't doubt that they are) this means either silver is dirt cheap or the dollar isn't what it used to be, or both.

Footnote: I had to do the calculations myself-
$850 multiplied by 7.358 equals $6,255
$6,255 being the true inflation adjusted rate for gold's peak price. I figured 7.358 is the real inflation rate from 1980-2007.

30 cents an Ounce, with silver dropping to it lowest point in 1934. Silver ran low until after WW2.
