Poll Question:
Ok, everyone keep this clean!

What is the largest amount of coin a bank has allowed you to dump at one time?

I realize some of you dump loose coins in lobby machine while others of us bring in loose coin bags or even rolls.

Choices:

less than $200
$201 to $300
$301 to $400
$401 to $500
$501 to $600
$601 to $700
$701 to $800
Over $800

$1250 in rolls - mostly Nickels with a few pennies. That's what a branch gets for telling me they must save their precious coin for "customers that need it". I helped them out with their coin shortage.

Is this poll for pennies only?

My largest dump (halves) was $2450 in one of my dump bank branches.

Over 5000.00 in one week at one bank. 3200.00 on monday and over 1800.00 thursday. maybe that is why they cut me off.

Slick,

I try to keep my dumps (mostly halves) to no more than $2000/bank branch/month. You've got to find some more branches to dump your coins.

Maybe it should be by total weight or # of rolls rather than dollar value.. those half dollar dumps get the $ up there a lot faster than pennies.

My biggest in one trip to one bank was $1150.. All pennies.. 2300 rolls! This was right after I got my first automatic rolling machine and was starting to catch up a little. They made me promise to limit my dumps a bit at that branch after that. I spread my dumps out a lot better now.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Let me see if I understand this? If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 years hard labor; the Iranian border illegally you are detained indefinitely. If you cross the US border illegally, you get a driver’s license, a social security card, welfare, food stamps, free health care!

I helped a forum member dump about $11k in quarters about a year ago at the lobby coin counters between 2 TCF branches. The first branch put me on probation for 2 weeks. If I ever caused them to have to change out the boxes because of my coin dumping, and I was still in the building, I would get charged the non customer rate of 8.9%. After that, and to this day, I am allowed to fill the machine no more than once a week or else... I was told those machines are for "normal" customers, not coin collectors.

Other than that, the most I ever dumped at one time was $1600, $1k in dimes and $600 in nickels.

As far as pennies, just a skosh under $200.

Pennies? Most ever was somewhere around $2500 at one branch at one time. That went over well.... Now I keep them to below $1000 per branch per day.

Heck, That was only about $3500 or so in halves. The rest was pennies.

Now I limit myself to $750 per bank in Pennies and $2000 in Halves.

They know my routine and are fine with this arrangement.

Wow. Those are amazing amounts of cents. I am very small by comparison. My own rule is I only take in what I can carry in 2 hands, so usually around $20 or so. Even then I still feel "goofy" walking into the Credit Union with plastic containers filled with cents. (Must be my guilt complex kicking in! )

Anyway, thanks for the perspective! Now I won't feel so strange about my tiny dumps!

$380 in pennies into a coin-counter, the poor teller had to change bags every $25, I felt bad.

Hoard now and hold on!

565.00 in pennies topped off the Bin and some of the next one as well. That was shortly after I found my first free coin counting machine in a lobby. Had plenty saved up and ready for them :)

I dump US coin too - in Washington State. I just wish I didn't have to roll all my coin.

Rolling is no problem.. if you have the machines. Of course since there are no coin counters at any of my banks other than a CoinStar at my CU, pretty much all my dumps have to be rolled.

Investin Cents.. I often only dump what I can carry in 2 hands also. But when I do it there is a carrying bag in each hand and 4 boxes of pennies in each bag.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Dropped off over $3k of zincolns in one day but was kind enough to share that between three branches.
I like wheeling my loaded cart in and looking at those innocent teller's faces then finding the branch managers face to contrast and compare.

The first panacea for a mismanaged nation is inflation of the currency; second is war. Both bring a temporary (and false) prosperity; both bring a permanent ruin. But both are the refuge of political and economic opportunities.

Yeah, you are flirting with disaster when you press the envelope. I dumped $3000 in pennies at one branch in a week and they cut me off.. can't imagine why.
