The joints of my thumbs are hurting and sore. I think it is due to grabbing the loose penny bags in each hand and hefting them in the bank and trying to balance and pull open a door at the same time.
Just wondering if other are having the same issue or am I just getting old as crap!

Nah.. never have hurting hands.. even from breaking open all those rolls.
The solutions are simple and have probably been covered in the past. They usually have a Handicap button you can bump with your elbow and have the door open for you. This is specifically designed to make it easier for old folks to easily get out the door with all their loot.
The other more basic solution is something every serious penny sorter should already have.. maybe even before a Ryedale. It is called a cart. Makes pickups of any decent quantity much easier and safer.. with less wear and tear on the joints and spine. My regular cart is a flat dolly with a fold down handle and a capacity of 660 pounds. I always use one of my carts if I am going in or out with anything over 4 bags. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Let me see if I understand this? If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 years hard labor; the Iranian border illegally you are detained indefinitely. If you cross the US border illegally, you get a driver’s license, a social security card, welfare, food stamps, free health care!

A cart should be one of the first things you get. I also use a handtruck to roll the buckets of loose coins in.
I am fortunate that the banks I get my bags from load the bags on their cart. One bank actually rolls the cart outside and helps load my van.
save your body. use your brain.

I don't sort bags, just rolls of coins. But between the sorting of the coins and my crocheting I have developed a trigger thumb on my left hand. Guess it is from the way I hold the coins to look them over for errors, etc. before going on to next coin. Had to slow down on the coins and the crocheting for awhile plus get some medication from the doctor.
Didn't realize you needed to be in tip top shape to search coin rolls!!! |
