I picked up some penny rolls from a bank recently. Included in the rolls were four 2009 D mint penny rolls (red and white wrap, tight rolled, 'N. F. String and Son' on wrappers). The reverse shows Mr. Lincoln standing in front of a building (capitol?). Not sure if this is the third or the fourth 2009 cent.

In any case, is there a 'market' for these? If so, what price range should I consider 'asking' for them?

Thanks very much for any advice or help on my questions.

The ones you got are the third issue.. what we call LP3. Yes, there is a market for them. Smaller quantities make it hard to price if you have to ship because of the high cost of shipping. If you are dealing direct you should be able to get more since there is no shipping cost involved. Sometimes it is better to let the buyer name his price first.. you might be pleasantly surprised.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Let me see if I understand this? If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 years hard labor; the Iranian border illegally you are detained indefinitely. If you cross the US border illegally, you get a driver’s license, a social security card, welfare, food stamps, free health care!

If you have a sealed box of the LP3 D's I have been selling them on ebay for around $50-60 each

Thanks very much for the answers ... I just have four rolls ... guess I'll check with the local coin dealer and see if he is inerested.

Again, thanks for the help!

Oh, and BTW, Hoard, do you think four rolls of the 2009 D LP3s are worth listing on this forum (in the appropriate thread)? Thanks!

They might be worth listing as a trade item. Shipping kills you on small numbers of rolls. I have over 20 boxes of them. I should probably hurry up and trade or sell some off.

I think I'll keep a few for the grandkids and 'dump' the rest in order to get more rolls to search. Haven't found anything worth talking about, but the percentage of copper Lincolns is pretty good, I think - around 25-30%
