I went yard saling last weekend. I picked up a bucket that had copper pipes and a packet of 2 sink faucets. Bought both for $5.

Turned the copper in from the bucket and got $5 for it so it already paid for itself for my whole purchase.

Should I take the time to remove the copper from the sink faucets there is probably 4 inches of copper pipe extending from the faucets.

What is the best way to remove it? What kind of metal are the faucets?

Faucets are usually brass, plated with chrome.

Copper is worth around 40-50% more than brass, so separate it if you have enough quantity to make it worthwhile. If it's only 4 inches I wouldn't bother. However, if you plan to do this very much, keep a separate pail for copper.

Bend it back and forth until it cracks off. Or, use a hacksaw.

I've found that some bathroon faucets have a chrome shell over the insides. There is just alittle brass and copper. I just throw away the shell and throw the insides in my brass barrel.

Great info, in my area craigslist has a lot of posts from people giving this stuff away for free. Good resource for those in the know.
