Always a little surprise finding a blank penny planchet. Nothing else of significance other than a 1919 and 1926 in good shape each. Anybody ever find the 95% copper planchets? I have at least two other zinc plancets in the past. These are not as rare as Indian Heads. They might be as rare as '43 steel pennies. What has been the planchet findings, on average, for sorters?

| I find a couple planchets a week. Most of them are zinc but I do find coppers. |

| I took one in to the coin store the other day and he said they were quite common; he said worth maybe 75 cents a piece. Does that sound right? |

| We only have centavos in Cuba LOL.......what the heck is a "planchet?"... I think that it means "with nothing on it" but I am not sure. |

Yep, it's a coin blank all ready to be stamped into a fiat token, but some how managed to miss the important embossing with an official emblem and or seal that says it's worth more than it's metal scrap value. |

| One of the bags of pennies I picked up the other day had 4 zinc planchets in it. I guess that is unusual, but maybe it was a partial coin collection dump. Found a 1919-S in G condition, a 1938-S in better shape than most I find from that era, a 1923, a 1930, a 1932 and 1939 also and 3 King VI's and a '67 dove Canadian and 5 of the new 2009 Lincolns. Bags of pennies are definitely easier to sort through, period. Takes about an hour to separate the wheats and Canadians and other coins from the lot. |

Congrats! I got one for $2 at a coin show last year. I thought $2 was great because I was sure that as soon as I bought one I would find one, but it didn't work. I would love to find one in a roll. |
