Went to my bank this morning and picked up 4, $10 boxes of LMC's. Opened the last box and thought "oh great a skunk box" then a closer look revealed a complete box of 09' formative year cents. I noticed that on ebay there are ton's of these for sale but they all seem to be in paper wrappers. Mine are in the plastic wrapper.

Are these worth more, less, or do I just have $10 worth of zinc?? Don't plan on tossing them just wondering?

You're kidding, right?

I think the plastic wrap means they are coming from Brinks. Its possible that they are coming straight from the mint which, I think, would make them more valuable (possibly a lot more). Hopefully there's a way to verify this.

Always ask for $20 and I get 2 $10 boxes. Heavy duty cardboard with "$10 Pennies" printed on the sides.

I can try I just don't know how?

I've searched using terms such as "upload photo" & "photo" and "adding photo" but can't seem to find a thread on how to do it.

Any help is appreciated.

$10 boxes? What's that? I only got $25 boxes so far. Do the $10 boxes have more potential for the 2009 unc?

I have never heard of $10.00 boxes either. I get all my pennies in $25.00 boxes or $50.00 bags. I tried to snag some new pennies by ordering boxes instead of bags for a couple of weeks but it is not working. I just get all mixed pennies. So I am going back to bags, it takes too long and makes an extra step to break open all those rolls each week.

I'm pretty sure it's Loomis. (Hope that's spelled right.) HSBC bank.

I'd say that out of the 150K that I've hand sorted I've gotten probably 130K this way with the other 20K in $25 Brinks boxes. (These came from a credit union.) The $10 boxes are more the norm up here rather than the exception.

Wow, I'm with TX im on that one. The last time I had a box like that in my hand was an original 10.00 bank box of 1954-s rolls of pennies. I had no clue people were still using these today. It sure would be neat to have some of those laying around. I sure they stack nice and neat with 20 rolls of copper inside! I want some.....for free of course. Grrr guess we don't have HSBC down here, oh well. I learn something new everyday. Thanks for the post/pics.!!!

Yes! I'm sure lot's of people would buy your unused boxes. I wouldn't get the prices too outrageous though, maybe $2 a box. That's a 20 dollar profit on top of the copper! They sure are nice looking boxes.

Those are great looking boxes! I would be willing to buy some, or trade copper for them.

In the past, Brinks rolled cents bring less in the open market than paper wrapped cents. They are not considered as desireable in that type of wrapper. If you want to send them to me, I would be happy to reroll them in nice N.F. String & Son paper with one of my automatic wrapping machines.

Now that you know your bank has the new pennies in stock, you should rush right back and buy up as many boxes as they will sell you. Worst case scenario.. you get more pennies to sort for copper and several boxes to sell to fellow members.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Let me see if I understand this? If you cross the North Korean border illegally, you get 12 years hard labor; the Iranian border illegally you are detained indefinitely. If you cross the US border illegally, you get a driver’s license, a social security card, welfare, food stamps, free health care!

Let me pile on with the drooling over those nice looking boxes...

It looks like they may be "chipboard" instead of cardboard?

If so, they are even more durable than the standard $25 cardboard boxes we are used to.

A nice, handy, "brick" size to boot!

NiBullionCu, I think you are correct.

The brown box in the picture is manufactured by MMF Industries of Wheeling, IL. I checked the web-site and they do indeed refer to the box as "chipboard". Do cardboard and chipboard look similar? The white ones don't have any manufacturing information on them, but they do appear to be the same material.

If there is really an iterest in these I'll pick up some boxes from the P.O. and see how many I can squeeze in and let everyone know.

You're kidding, right?

Very intriguing. I'm with everyone else on this in that I don't ever remember seeing anything like that from a bank before even when we had our own business as I was growing up and then when my husband and I had our fishing business for over ten years.

What do the initials of your bank stand for as I am not familiar with that and want to see if we have any here in Central Florida?

Thanks.

I am really jealous of the new pennies. I received one of the first ones in a card yesterday from my niece in Virginia. That is all I have seen except photos online and the ones for sale at the coin shop that are out of my budget.

Continued success.
