I don't have a scale, and I don't want to cart off a $50 mint bag of cents to the YMCA to weigh it. Not saying, but I might have a goal to at least get to a ton of copper pennies so that I can put "ByTheTon" in my forum handle (but only after I find an Indian Head as having "ByTheTon" in my name would exclude me from the Rational Thinkers).

So, for you guys who hoard by the pound, or by the ton for that matter, how much does a $50 mint bag of copper pennies weigh?

Rich is a little whiskey to drink and some food to eat and a roof over your head and a fish pole and a boat and a gun and a dollar for a box of shells. Rich is not owing any money to anybody, and not spending what you haven't got." Robert Ruark

Haven't weighed a bag but here's the math:

3.1 g * 5000 pennies / 453.59 g = 34.171 lb.

Thank you. 2,000 divided by 34 equals 58.8. So, I only have another 58.5 bags to go before I reach one ton.

Only 12 more $50 bags to go!

Beer is my currency.

Unless they are all shiny, brand new BU coppers it is going to take a few more. Circulation wears the coins down a little and reduces their weight slightly. It only takes 300,000 US coppers (60 Bags) to make a ton.

Guess I better sell off a few more bags.. they are starting to pile up again.

If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.

Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available.
