I just started going through a 5 gallon water jug of pennies (half full). The an is to keeo the wheats and other coppers, to upgrade albums and to look for varieties or errors.
I less thab $25 worth, there was very little more recent than 2000... So almost 50% has been copper or wheats. I came across a 1918 wheat and about 2 dozen other wheats.
However, it looks like many coins are suffering from verdigris, bronze disease or whatever you want to call it.
Surely - cannot cross contaminate my other coppers with these.
Can I save these coins? What treatment? What would you do?
I have thousands more to go through as I have barely made a dent in the jug.
Need some advice.

Last night I filled a 20 oz. Plastic cup. I imagine that I could fill 20-30 more from this stash. But I don't want to waste my time if they are not even going to have any bullion value.
But I guess I do have a science experiment on my hands.
WHAT IS "CLR"?
Thanks. |

Billy Mays sold KaBoom, not CLR. One of the KaBoom commercials had Billy "clean" a penny in KaBoom. Not this one though.

The CLR worked good on some .999 Canadian Nickels I had. They had a lot of transfer rust on them from somewhere. Took the rust off and the looked like all of the rest of circulated nickels. |
You don't have to be the BEST you just have to be.......SLICK

Eh, copper is copper. There is value no matter what.

Live free or die. Plain and simple.
"If you love wealth more than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom, depart from us in peace. We ask not your council or your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains rest lightly upon you and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams |

No, I am storing these separately from my other bullion, and storing these wheats separately... at least until I have more time to get serious about cleaning them. I will probably separate the good, the bad and the ugly, and focus on the good first. |

I shipped mine to misteroman. Just store them seperately as a different grade of copper. It is not worth the expense and labor to clean them. |
If your percentages are low.. just sort more. If your percentages are high.. just sort more.
Now selling Copper pennies. 1.6x plus shipping. Limited amounts available. |
