I have a widow's mite, but I don't know how old it is. I also have a Justinian I AE Follis (bronze). Justinian I ruled Byzantium from 527-565, so that's about when it was minted in Constantinople.

The 1687 3d. from England is classed as being a Maundy coin by collectors.

Have a read here; You must be logged in to see this link. .

The coins of King James II of England from both England & Ireland are notoriously difficult to find. The same thing applies to the Scots coins of King James VII of Scotland as well.

Yes,even the Gunmoney coins from Ireland has now become very difficult to find.

1790 "duit"- or "The original New York Penny". Not technically from a country but rather a trade company- The Dutch East India Company, or VOC. These coins were valid currency (along with many others) in colonial America. They are quite common an can be had for a few bucks but have a great history. By 1669,the VOC was the richest company the world had ever known.

Cool piece of trivia...The VOC was the first company in history to ever issue stock.

Got it from a lot I bought from our very own AGressive Metal!

Cool thread!! My oldest is an English silver long cross penny... it does not have a date, but it is estimated to be 1279-1483. I am not a collector of old coins though, I just happen to have that one. My oldest dated coin is a 1914 wheat penny, LOL.

New collector!

1/12 Thaler no date on this one. It was a junk bin find. I think it's 1763. Maybe someone can help me with that.

Oh BTW it's for sale

I'd give you at least a thaler for it. Haha. I'm gonna look into this, see what more I can find out about it... looks like a nice coin.
