Just thought I'd start a thread. Anyone collect anything in particular?

There should be a Token category in this forum.

I have been collecting Canadian tokens since the early 1970's.

I had a bucket of these once, and think it's neat that they are all dated... coin wannabes! I sorted out all the different varieties I could, but then my kids wanted to go back to CEC and I couldn't justify keeping them. So it was about a 7-day collection, since we probably went two Saturdays in a row... once as a "source bank" and once as a "dump bank." But skeeball is an AWESOME dump! My favorite!

Besides date sorting, what different die varieties are there?

I've only bought one token - by chance I stumbled across an old Seattle bus token on Ebay and bought it. We used to get around Seattle by bus when I was a child in the late 50s / early 60s.

There is a decent guide published for the sales tax tokens. I think there is even a club for the collectors of them.

I have a few. They've got to be ten years old by now. I just never throw anything out... Bad combination to go with this hobby of hoarding

I bought one cool looking token/medal (???) at the recent Summer FUN Show as it was dated 1987--for the son's birthday project.

It is a Mardi Gras token/medal (???) that the reverse says Knights of Babylon New Orleans Mardi Gras

The obverse (???) has OKLAHOMA 1987 and has a cool surrey type vehicle on it and that themes with where my son currently works. So, I thought it was cool and got it to give as part of everything else I am still gathering for his 25th birthday.

Looking more closely at this coin I think I get it now...it is themed to the song that has the words "surrey with the fringe on top". I see some musical notes now at the bottom also.

It also has JEB III BARTH BROS on the front in very little letters.

Enjoy this hobby, everyone.
