Posted - 07/01/2008 : 19:23:20 I've recently received a couple 69+ pound PM boxes. Now, I'm no weakling, but these are ba11-busters to lug around. My postman looks to be 120 pounds or so himself, so he's not enjoying the routine. Can this deal with the USPS survive? I've got to think that lots of mail-carriers are putting up a real fuss. It's a great deal for all of us, but I'll be surprised if it survives for long. Especially considering the cost of moving freight around nowadays.

Posted - 07/02/2008 : 05:38:39 Lifting 69 lbs is no big deal if you are in shape, or even if you are out of shape but still remember how it's done. When I was in shape I could lift a 95 lb bag of cement with one hand. I mean one hand on top, the way you would pick up a book. Um, let's see, that was 48 years ago. But I still have no problem carrying penny boxes four at a time. I just put them in a milk crate and carry it on my shoulder. Right now I'm trying to figure out how to get my 170 lb coin wrapper into the basement by myself. |

Posted - 07/02/2008 : 01:21:44 Just a matter of time before they change the rules. But hopefully they just cut the limit in half so we can at least continue to ship at least one bag. |

Posted - 07/01/2008 : 23:59:48 I am guilty of shipping a few.. I hold the current record at 69 pounds, 15.6 ounces. Usually I just ship 7500 pennies in a box though. They like these lightweight 52 pounders. The postal workers have a way of getting even though.. the heavier it is, the more they bounce it to check your packing proficiency. |

Posted - 07/01/2008 : 21:58:56 Yeah, I believe a flat rate box will exist for a long time, but the rates will go up because of gas costs. |
