Posted - 11/01/2009 : 10:54:26 I found the coveted 1950 D last night! In average circulated condition. Now that I have the hardest one out of the way, the 38 D & S, and the 39 D & S I need to complete my set seem easy. |

I have not yet found a '50-D. Besides the elusive 2009's, that is the one hole I have yet to fill from CRH.

The 50-D is not the hardest because of the mintages.. it is because most never went into circulation.. they were hoarded as soon as they were released.
This would explain why you can buy mint rolls on ebay. One guy had 4 of them for about $400 each I think. |

Posted - 11/01/2009 : 14:41:40 I would say the 50-D is the hardest to find in circulation. It is the only one I haven't found in circulation. 39-D is the second hardest. I have found several 39-S nickels. |

Posted - 11/01/2009 : 14:29:53 Chris6094...Congrats on the nickel find! Hope you can find the remaining coins you need as easily and from rolls too. The most fun way to build a collection and inexpensive too. |

Posted - 11/01/2009 : 13:03:42 I know that but mintage doesn't totally have to do with scarcity in circulation. IIRC the 50 is 2.5mil and the 39 is 3.5 mil? It's ben awhile since I looked at coin mintages lol |
