Does anyone know when they are going to announce the winner for the 2010 cent? I have seen all of the proposed designs but not a date when they will pick the winner.

There's two designs I really like, LP-01 and LP-08.

There's two months left in the 2009 calendar year, but if they pick a design and produce it before December 31, 2010, they'll still be on time. Given how the nickel and dime production lines have shut down indefinitely, I suspect there's little demand for cents, and cent production might not start up until several months into the new year.

The way collectors have been snapping up the 2009s, I would think there would be less in circulation than in most years. Of course, there is probably enough in circulation now that they don't need to mint anthing for a few years anyway.

Unity is starting to leave a real bad taste in my mouth, do they have a design for individual liberty?

I hope they choose the shield design. The Shield of Unity is one of the most underused patriotic symbols in American history, along with Lady Columbia.

From what I understand, this is supposed to be a permanent design (i.e for another 50 years). I am sure they will come up with something to make "special" designs every few years and sell more at a premium.

Everywhere I have read its probably going to be the reverse with the cartoony shield...

I really hate that one. Hope it grows on me...

Maybe a new design every month to keep the money rolling into the mint....

Deal

I dunno, hope it's a good one. But will it be just 2010? Or kept forever?
