Hey I'm new to collecting coins and today I went to my local chase back and traded my $50 in quarters and dimes for rolled pennies.
The tellers did ask me several times why I wanted them so I just answered honestly that I was collecting.

We (my wife and I) are about half way through the $50 and so far we have found a lot of copper, 2 wheat pennies, and one penny that looks like it was never stamped. Is that worth anything?

Anyway just saying hello!

Bruce

Too funny. Happens to me all the time. Once they stop asking and start saying "oh you're one of those guys" then it will probably be too late.

BruceC, Welcome to Realcent! You will have lots of fun sorting and you will be surprised at all the stuff you will find.

If you are lucky you will even fine wild Indians! i.e. and Indian Head Penny! Now, if you are like me, when I was told this I just shook my head and said to myself...yea right!

I have a tribe of Indians now! :-)

Congratulations on finding a blank plancet...a nice score and definitely a keeper!

Happy Hunting & Enjoy!

Welcome and happy coin collecting. When asked I just say I am looking for old coins to collect (very true). You may have found a blank plancet. Sometimes coins slips through the mint without getting stamped. They are worth something to collectors, depending on condition etc..You are lucky to find one-I've only scored one plancet to date.
