It's impossible to find one let alone 50! Someone must be doing the Wild Indian Dance too much. |

Posted - 07/10/2008 : 20:24:26 I'm at around two hundred dollars in face value in hand sorted copper cents. When I first found out about the whole copper penny sorting thing, I thought it would be cool to collect $1000 in copper pennies. After sorting for four months I now realize the time, size and weight commitment involved.
I still think it would be cool to have 100,000 copper pennies :) It might take a year, but its certainly possible to get there. |

Posted - 07/10/2008 : 09:58:01 currently sitting on about 65 lbs, in ammo cans in my dad's basement. Not much room for piles of metal in my apartment...
According to my spreadsheet (yes, I keep a spreadsheet tracking my finds and overall performance in terms of dollar value and percentages) I have about $250US by copper weight (assuming $3.80/lb value).
I keep the wheats and barely circulated coppers separate. Figure I may start selling the coins which may have a numismatic premium.

Posted - 07/02/2008 : 08:41:12 This may sound silly but you hand sorters have a bigger hoard than I do! I am currently trying to do a "capitol growth" phase. As soon as I get $100 face, I get rid of it. Same thing probably when i get enough wheats.
Congrats guys, every cent counts! |

Posted - 06/24/2008 : 22:03:48 Congrats. I'm pretty sure I don't have that much. I can only sort one or two boxes a week with my work and school schedule.
*Edit*
Over 50 lbs now. Probably more like 60. I've been getting more done. I'll have an accurate count soon. I ordered a nice postal scale that weighs up to 52 pounds for a good price. |

Posted - 06/24/2008 : 21:39:49 I filled many a empty spaghetti sauce jar by hand sorting. Such a jar hold just 9 dollars. |

Posted - 06/24/2008 : 21:33:12 Ya got me beat! I've only sorted a couple boxes and pocket change. I have as much Canadian copper as I do US (got that in a trade). Later this summer when I have more time I hope to step it up... |
